During the 2024 Zhuhai International Ocean Intelligent Science and Technology Exhibition, the Journal of Unmanned Undersea Systems (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) held a working meeting of the Youth Editorial Board of the 2024 Journal of Unmanned Undersea Systems on the afternoon of the 26th, which was the first offline meeting held separately by the Youth Editorial Board of the Journal since its establishment.

Established in August 2021, the Journal's Youth Editorial Board has been supplemented three times, with a total of 62 members at present. At the meeting, Mr Zhang Junfeng, departmental director of the Xi’an Precision Machinery Research Institute, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organisers of the Journal, and shared with the guests the good news that the application of the Journal to add the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers(hereinafter referred to as the Society) as the organiser had been formally approved, and that the Journal would be formally changed to be co-sponsored by the Xi’an Precision Machinery Research Institute and the Society from April onwards. On behalf of the editorial department, Xu Yan, director of the editorial department, and Chen Xi, deputy editor-in-chief, introduced the selection of young editorial board members, work evaluation rules, and the progress of the journal on behalf of the editorial department to the young editorial board members and invited guests. Zhao Meijia, Director of the Academic Department of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, made special exchanges on the organisational structure of the Institute, main services, editing and publishing, group standards, academic exchanges, transformation of achievements, talent training, international exchanges and other aspects.

In the discussion session of the meeting, the young editorial board members discussed how to further improve the quality of journal content, the innovation and expansion of academic communication forms, how to use the new media platform to conduct deep excavation of academic resources, academic resource sharing and other aspects, which provided new ideas and constructive opinions for the high-quality development of the Journal.

After the meeting, the editorial board will summarise and sort out in time, integrate the spirit of the meeting into the practice of running the journal, steadily improve the academic quality, enrich the form of academic exchanges, serve the readers and authors, and accelerate the construction of the underwater unmanned systems academic ecosystem, so as to promote the industry's development by the power of academics, and to add bricks and mortar to the construction of a strong marine nation.
