On April 27, 2024 Zhuhai International Ocean Intelligent Science and Technology Exhibition- Frontier Science and Technology Sub-forum on Unmanned Undersea Systems was successfully held at Zhuhai International Airshow Centre. 2024 ZInternational Ocean Intelligent Science and Technology Exhibition was held concurrently in Zhuhai during April 26-28, and the conference was jointly sponsored by Zhuhai Convention and Exhibition Group Co. The conference was organised by Zhuhai Convention & Exhibition Group Co. The sub-forum on Frontier Science and Technology of Unmanned Undersea Systems was hosted by the editorial board of the Journal of Unmanned Undersea Systems (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) of the Xi'an Precision Machinery Research Institute.

This sub-forum attracted more than 200 experts and scholars from universities and colleges, research institutes, science and innovation companies, etc., and the participating guests carried out academic exchanges around the theme of "Unmanned Undersea Systems Frontier Science and Technology".

As the representative of the organiser, researcher Shi Xiaofeng, director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Xi’an Precision Machinery Research Institute, expressed his warm welcome to the guests and hoped that through the academic platform set up by the Journal, it would provide industry workers with a wide range of communication channels to jointly promote the development of science and technology in the field of unmanned undersea systems.

Subsequently, researcher Shi Xiaofeng presided over the morning forum, and four experts, Professor Liu Songzuo from Harbin Engineering University, Professor Huang Haocai from Zhejiang University, Professor Xu Minyi from Dalian Maritime University, and Professor Chen Yimin from Northwestern Polytechnical University, reported on the topics of hydroacoustic robust communication and high reliable release technology, underwater helicopter and its application, underwater bionic tactile sensing technology research, and key technology and application of unmanned undersea vehicles respectively, and a series of in-depth and inspiring academic exchanges were held. In the afternoon, Researcher Cai Weijun, Executive Editor-in-Chief of the Journal, presided over the forum. Six industry experts, including Gao Guanjun, Director of Optical Communication Network Centre of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Xing Lining, Professor of Xidian University, Yang Shaoqiong, Associate Professor of Excellence of Tianjin University, Yang Shenshen, Researcher of China Shipbuilding Science and Research Centre, Yue Tao, Associate Researcher of Shanghai University, and Liu Liwen, Senior Engineer of the Xi’an Precision Machinery Research Institute, focused on the research and practice of high-speed undersea wireless optical communication technology for ocean observation, Six industry experts gave speeches on the research and practice of high-speed undersea wireless optical communication technology for ocean observation, the practice and thinking of the development of intelligent mission planning technology of star cluster, the key technology of unmanned submarine vehicle and its application of sea trial, the application of high-speed data transmission on manned submarine, the network and data security of unmanned ship, and the research of intelligent identification strategy of underwater target, etc., to discuss the cutting-edge and hot issues of the industry of unmanned undersea system, and to share the results of their respective research and experience.

On the 28th, in order to further drive the enthusiasm of experts and scholars to explore and build the ocean, the organisers of the forum organised a visit to Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligent Technology Co.

Dr Tang Zili, General Manager of Marine Division of Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence, led the delegates to visit the exhibition hall of Yunzhou Intelligence and introduced the content of unmanned boat research and development, production and application, which deepened the delegates' knowledge and understanding of the unmanned boat industry.

As an academic journal that has been ploughing into the field of unmanned undersea for thirty years, the Journal will continue to uphold the tenet of booming academic exchanges and serving engineering practice, and through a series of initiatives, it will continue to provide high-quality academic content as well as diversified forms of academic services for scientific and technological workers in the industry and make every effort to build an academic ecosystem of unmanned undersea systems, and join hands with experts and scholars to promote the construction of a strong marine country and contribute to the development of the industry and independent innovation.
