Anti-submarine Warfare(ASW) Weapons and Sub-to-air Missile with Influences on Future ASW

  • The development of the weapons, such as sub-to-air missile, anti-submarine rocket(ASROC), etc., are reviewed. The interactive defense and attack system for submarines (IDAS) missile, P-8 multimission maritime aircraft(MMA), high altitude anti-submarine warfare weapon concept(HAAWC), and vertical launch ASROC-ER are described. Their influences on future anti-submarine warfare(ASW) are analyzed. It is pointed out that the long shot ASW weapons are the result of net-centric ASW concept. In the future, Submarine will face the new threats of unmanned distributed networked sensor field (UDNS) , global maritime surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) system, and HAAWC, etc. Thus the countermeasure manner will change greatly.
