Operational Strategy for Helicopter with Dipping Sonar to Search Submarine

  • The operational strategy for a helicopter with dipping sonar to search submarines under sea environment of thermo-cline is studied. The movement models of the helicopter and submarine are established, followed with the detection model of dipping sonar and the model of acoustic propagation model. The later considers the influences of sound velocity profile and sea bottom parameters. The influences of time delay of a helicopter, mission time of a helicopter, and merit factor of dipping sonar on the effectiveness of anti-submarine are analyzed based on Monte Carlo simulation, and the quantitative analysis result are given.
